The second phone, the same exact phone, has similar issues. This is my second AT&T phone. The phone has a compact size, but it has mechanical issues galore. It is poorly constructed and I would not buy this phone again, even if it were at half the price.I bought the phone because the price was right (cheap) and how could you possibly mess up up something simple like a phone. I returned the first because keys would stick, calls wouldn't go through. I got fed up. In this case, I got what I paid for--shoddy manufacturing. Very disappointing AT&T.
Speaker hums a bit a volume - panasonic didn't. Like the features - traded for my panasonic that did not have backlit display. Easy to program. Returned first one of the AT&T and got a replacement that was better. Decided I could live with it cause I like all of the other features.
The problem this creates is that the red LED for the second line is illuminated all the time (because there is no second line connected). I recently purchased a 933, and it seems to function quite well. However, I'm using it at home on one incoming line. Calls to AT&T 'tech support' are not helpful (they suggested removing external power for 30 seconds, which did not help); they then suggested returning the telephone for a replacement. If anyone knows how to turn off this LED, I'd appreciate a post.DF Plummer Bellevue, WA
I have a great cordless phone with a bluetooth headset, but it just can't make it through a full day of 2-3 hour conference calls or 8 hour phone sessions.however this speaker phone works great. I've telecommuted for ~7 years now and have a tendency to go through phones. Most home phones just aren't designed to be talked on for 8 hours non-stop (no exaggeration). The audio quality is as good as any you can buy for home use, the volume goes high enough to deafen you.and the wired headset is great. This phone has given me further reasons to never go to my actual company provided office, having a functional hands free is essential and my employer is too cheap to buy one to go with the $800 desk phone that I never use.
This phone is marketed as though it works when the power goes out and it will, unless the battery dies. The ringer will not work until the power is restored."This is also the case if the battery goes dead without you noticing, or after an extended power outage. Which will after no more than 24hrs even if the battery is brand new. At that point the phone will not even ring. From the manual: "NOTE: If you do not have a spare battery (optional) already installed during a power failure, you will only be able to make and receive calls from the handset. In other words, this is not suitable as a backup/emergency phone. Just keep this in mind before selecting.
